This was a hugely complex project in an occupied building and was only deliverable with a great team on board – the professionalism, determination, willingness to adapt, attention to detail and communication skills of the Open team made for a really successful outcome.”

Main features of the reception refurbishment
The reception refurbishment began with a full strip out of the existing fixtures and fittings where we had to remove a significant quantity of reinforced concrete walls and flooring to take the space back to its shell. A complex services diversion package was installed, along with new structural walls and a staircase, and a new floor slab laid.
Once the floor slab was in place, the reception refurbishment works focused on fitting out the new area with a classic architectural palette of terrazzo, plaster and bronze metalwork. New bronze windows and external doors were fitted to the façade with Portland stone and brickwork detailing. One of the key features that complement this space are the joinery details in oak tone that gives warmth to this space and makes it a welcome entrance.
The reception facility areas, such as the WCs and lifts on all three floors were also refurbished. The building was occupied throughout the entire project, so we took care to work closely with people in the building to create a space fit for the future without disrupting people’s day-to-day. This reception refurbishment enabled us to work for the second time with the architects at dMFK, the first project was in Reading at 12 Forbury Court, where we completed a CAT A+ refurbishment.
