12 Gough Square
We enjoyed the challenge of this project, which included a stunning redesign of the reception space by DMFK Architects. Going through a full strip-out of the old reception features we’ve redesigned a modern entrance that stands out through perfect finishes and quality materials, representing the historic Gough Square.

This was a hugely complex project in an occupied building and was only deliverable with a great team on board – the professionalism, determination, willingness to adapt, attention to detail and communication skills of the Open team made for a really successful outcome.”
Andrew Giblin, Director – Dorrington
Work began with a strip out – removing a significant quantity of reinforced concrete walls and flooring to take the space back to its shell. A complex services diversion package was installed, along with new structural walls and a staircase, and a new floor slab laid.
Once the floor slab was in place, work began to fit out the reception area with a classic architectural palette of terrazzo, plaster and bronze metalwork. New bronze windows and external doors were fitted to the façade with Portland stone and brickwork detailing.
Internally, we also completed an extensive refurbishment of the WCs on three of the floors. The building was occupied throughout the entire project, so we took care to work closely with people in the building to create a space fit for the future without disrupting people’s day-to-day.
